“The more we know about our families, the more we can know about ourselves, and the more freedom we have to determine how we want to live.” ~Monica McGoldrick, author of You Can Go Home Again
About Me

I have BA in English and a MA in English and Creative Writing and have been an educator for over 50 years where I have worked in a variety of learning settings. In 2014, I was a senior peer counsellor in Courtenay and in 2017 I completed the Cowichan Family Life Peer Counselling Training where I completed more than a 100 hours of client hours. I received a Diploma in Counselling from Vancouver College of Counselling in 2023. I currently work in a nonprofit mental health agency as a Family Educator where I support clients and families facing the challenges of mental health and addiction. In my private practice I have special interest in family of origin work, mental health and addictions. I am in the process of becoming a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor. In 1987 I had a poetry book, Future Rivers published in Canada. In 2026 my first novel, A Corner of the Earth, will be published. My writing focuses on family of origin work and the consequences of intergenerational trauma.

“I refuse to live
locked in the orderly house of
reasons and proofs.
The world I live in and belief in
is wider than that. And anyway,
what’s wrong with Maybe?
You wouldn’t believe what once or
twice I have seen. I’ll just
tell you this:
only if there are angels in your head will you
every, possibly, see one.”
